I live in Williamston SC. Just out of random curiousity...in the long run i plan on opening up my own automotive shop with my husband. Let me paint a picture of the buisness.
Its a 6 building configuration. One is for oil changes and tire rotations only. Another is for the bigger work on cars. The next is for body work, and painting. The fourth is strictly for detailing cars. The fifth is only for diesel work. And the sixth is where you come in, get your car into the system to be worked on. It also doubles as the waiting area.
I plan on providing wifi for both workers, and customers. Maybe even a TV to watch. If possible complementry drinks and snacks while you wait.
If all goes well i adventally plan to add tow services. As well as buying and selling used cars.
Im still working on all the details. I just wanted to know though, based off of what i have so far, would any of you support the buisness?

My SO works for a car shop right now that is run and owned by a local guy and he has something like this just not as much space. Just a tip is don't try and do too much at once or that's where you start losing money. His boss has started to go to car auctions and buy and sell cars too but he started to focus too much on buying and selling that he has to take the mechanics away from customers to have them work on sales cars. Id just say don't try and do too much. 😊

@jcbaby i dont plan on it. I plan on starting small, but this is the long run picture. I worked in an automotive shop for Piedmont Honda for 8 months. The dealership right beside it that my husband works in as a mechanic is even smaller than the one i worked in. So in general im looking at providing enough space for my technicians to be efficant in their work.

@bethany_swaney Yea! Also depends on how many mechanics you have. You'd be surprised how much more motivated people are to work when they have nice space and nice conditions. ☺

@jcbaby it makes me sad that i cant work in a shop on cars anymore bc of my baby, but this shop is going to be my way of keeping in touch with my passion for cars

@jcbaby yep. :) I know the overall project is big, but i also know that without it i have a high chance of the buisness failing.
