I have a question for breastfeeding mom's. I really want to breastfeed, but I am scared I won't be able to. My kids were both early and it took a long time for my milk to come in and then they were so little that they couldn't latch onto my nipples. So my question is, can I do anything to stimulate milk production before baby is here? I'm sure he will come early too. I am very short and read that shorter women tend to go into labor early and considering my other two came early, I'm not getting my hopes up on a full 40 weeks.

Actual milk production only occurs after the placenta is delivered, so no 😕 in the beginning it will be hard but with determination you will be able to breastfeed.

I watched a documentary where there was a lesbian couple and the mother that did not carry was actually able to produce milk to breastfeed her baby also, so there has to be some way @kambam

@2-mommies well for one i have learned from experince that you do start producing some milk into your second trimester. The side effect is itchy nipples. And every so often theyll leak up until the babys born. Stimulating it...not so sure...i do know that when mine leak (which is once a week) that they soften. Rubbing them now seems to have the opposite effect. Instead of hardening they soften. They may not actually give milk if you get them to soften, but i do feel like it helps in some form. It also seems to give temp relief. Otherwise i think youll be fine. I have faith that even if you dont make it the full 40 youll make it close enough.

My 4 month old was a month and 2 days early and my milk came in about 2 days after she was born. So it's possible for the milk to come in a few days after giving birth to an early baby

You can extract colostrum. Maybe force your body to produce milk but its not safe until after baby is out. Worst case scenario you'll just have to supplement with formula until you and baby get breastfeeding down. I wouldnt stress about it too much this soon.

I did some research and idk how unsafe it could be bc mom's breastfeed their current babies while pregnant. Either way I'm not going to start trying till I'm 33 weeks @kambam
