So I've been trying literally everything to help get Sebastian walking and still no results. He's a little over 1 now so I'd like for him to get a little more independent so I don't have to carry him everywhere since he's getting heavier. If anyone has any ideas I would love the help! 😊
Walking like all other skills ( eat food, potty training, and so on ) starts in the brain and until that connection is made there he won't start walking. But doing things like helping them walk builds those needed muscles for when he needs them. Keep up the good work mama . Don't worry til you have need too. You will be chasing him all over the place before you know it. I didn't walk it I was 18 months and my grandmother bribed me with money lol
Yes he stands pretty great even without holding onto anything he just won't take steps
Yes we have a push walker too. I have it out for him in his room so when I have school work I put him in his room with it. He does push it around a lot but loses interest and moves on the something else after about 15 minutes usually
@beebaby, yes we use a walker. I tried to get him in it about 3 times a day or I'll even let him have his afternoon snack in it
Okay I'll just keep trying to help in small ways. He's a little on the small side since both me and his dad are small.
Exactly what @ciraclesmiracle said. They walk when they are ready. You can hold his hands and help him take little steps but doesn't mean he'll start walking tomorrow or next week.
Babies walk when they're ready. There's really nothing you can do. It will probably be within the next few months, if not sooner, as most babies walk around a year. Large babies are usually a bit later to walk because they've got more to lug around! My son is big too--he's 9.5mo and not even crawling yet.
@mamacole2, thank you! I'll keep working with him and hopefully he'll catch on. I know every child is different but it worries me since babies a little younger than him are walking and he's not.
