I prefer gerbil or rat. Friendlier than hamsters. If possible ask to hold it before getting it so you can see some of it's personality

My sister had two hamsters boy and girl they mated and would eat the kids then the boy ate the girl so gerbil it is!

Get a rat! Just as cute and they are way smarter. You can train then to do all kinds of stuff. And they are less likely to bite because they are much more social than gerbils or hamsters and they will form attachments to you and want to play with you! I've had several rats and they are great pets.

@sexii_diiva they are both gross and smell bad. If i had to chose again... gerbil... my step daughter has two and they arent AS BAD they still smell bad and are a lot of work but not as bad and they arent as evil...

I had hamsters they all bit and smelled super bad no matter how often I cleaned the cage. Once I had two at once, and one ATE the other. Get a gerbil!

I had a hamster, they are a lot of work. I wouldn't recommend one because a lot of them get sick most of the time and die. Mine died out of know where. It was fine one day and the next day it died.

I've had a hamster!!! I LOVED her. Just depends on the hamster bcuz mine NEVER did bite. She was so cute!!!! I loved her so much😍😍😍 I had to get rid of her after having her for like two years bcuz I moved...but she was amazing. Didnt smell or anything eitger bcuz of the maintenance that i did to keep her cage fantastic smelling 👌🏼👌🏼💖💕💖👑👑👑💎💎💎
