If they intensify then they are contractions. Braxton hicks go away if you pee, drink water, or switch positions- lay on left side.

You'll be able to tell the difference trust me @allie4231 a contraction is one of the worst pains in your whole entire life like literally not trying to scare you but thats how intense they are. Braxton hicks are nowhere near as bad and eventually end up going away contractions do not there normally 3-5 minutes apart.
