Engorged breasts, need relief.

Do you know how to hand express? If you can get on YouTube it will show you how. You can use cold packs on them for 10mins. Massage breasts before feeding and you can use heat on them before nursing.

Also if you just cant seem to empty them enough, pumping for one letdown or so wont do any harm. Being engorged will do harm though.

I tried hand expressing, heat, ice pack nothing helped so I pumped, feel way better but still engorged, is this normal? It's causing a lot of pain. I feed every 2-3 hours, maybe not enough? @kambam,

If he'll nurse more then let him. But for now just completely relieve yourself until he gets better at emptying so you don't get clogs or mastitis. Im assuming your milk just came in so it's gonna be a little crazy for a while.

Pumping will cause over supply unless ur wanting keep a stash for when returning to work.
