I'm getting so discouraged breastfeeding lately. I don't know if my son is getting enough from me or not. Sometimes he's happy as a clam after like he's gotten enough other times he acts hungry again real soon after. But he does this with bottles also 🤔 but sometimes his diapers aren't very wet after he eats from me which makes me think he reaLly isn't getting a lot, but sometimes I think he falls asleep before he really eats or he just pacifies. And I've been trying my best to correct his latch from just the nipple which he likes, to a wider mouth...I'm doing everything to increase my supply but idk. I guess I need to discuss it more with my lactation consultant which I have on the milk production part and they recommend most just baby being on the boob as much as possible. But if he's not getting what he needs then I feel bad doing that when he's hungry🙁

It's true--you should put him on the breast as much as possible. Nursing your baby more often signals to your body to produce more milk. And sometimes babies get hungry again in a short period of time. They're not machines, after all! The guidelines to feed your baby a certain number of ounces every certain number of hours is only a guide. Some babies eat more frequently--especially if they're having a growth spurt! The hardest part about breastfeeding is not knowing how much milk your baby is getting, but if he is gaining weight normally and having at least 4 wet diapers a day he is good! Let him nurse as frequently and as long as he wants, and your supply should be plentiful!

We'll see that's the thing at his 4 month visit he was a little below the curve and I think he lost s few ounces from like a week in a half of being there. So his doctor put him on Neosure to gain weight. @ciraclesmiracle, but he was gaining right along then idk what happened. He always had wet diapers though. But now I'm noticing even after a couple hours his diapers will be barely wet when he eats from me when he eats formula he's really wet within an hour 😣@ciraclesmiracle, I'm trying my best it's just so discouraging because I want him to be breastfed. I guess I'll just keep trying and see what happens.

I feel the same @missjess, my baby is below the curve at two months. She's under ten pounds soon. Her doctor wants me to supplement after feeds and pump. It's hard. I'm always worried is she getting enough. Feel free to message me.

My son was below the curve at 4 months and I have to give him a certain type of formula. He's chunked right up lol. But I'm doing more breastfeeding now then formula. He gets formula at night so I can ensure he is full and will sleep a little. Otherwise during the day I typically just have him on the breast. @patti28, I still feel like he doesn't get enough from me but I'm trying.
