@texasbama, THANK YOU!!! I hate when people just throw all this negativity at you. I made the choice to get pregnant after I educated myself and made an informed decision (I say that bc I never wanted kids and then at 34 I got married and suddenly had a biological clock haha). I made sure it was what I wanted. So negative people just keep almost ruining it for me!

People constantly told me that contractions were going to be like "getting ran over by a car". They were complete liars!!! I was in active labor with no medication for 14 hours and it just felt like bad cramps. I didn't cry or anything I handled the pain well. Everybody's pain tolerance is different. I dont understand why people like to be complete jerks and scare people. This is supposed to be a happy time for mommies to be.

See? Constructive lol. That's the way to do it. Honest yet supportive. All women should be that way lol. I hate negative Nancys!!! Obviously I know that birth and parenting is not all sunshine and roses but sheesh. It's not all doom and gloom either!!

Lol giving birth is not awful. Depending how you take it. Medicated or not. But still even natural is easy for some people.

@andrewsmommy, I wish. At least the people that know me are supportive. Complete strangers telling me how awful it is to give birth, how I'll never sleep again. It's just so rude. I don't need you scaring me, I have my doctor and all my books to do that!! Lol

Yes. Doctors. Not a bus driver. Not the woman in the grocery store who doesn't know me. Perfect strangers have no business giving me any kind of medical advice, warnings, etc.

Well it is true. Its something your dr will tell you also. At this point your dr should be asking you soon if something happens to you would you like blood transfusions or if there was a choice between you or baby who would you want thsm to save. They do ask stuff like that especially for 1st time moms.

Well I'm 35 yrs old and don't need someone telling me "I hope you are prepared for early term birth" or "oh my goodness, good luck! My sister almost died during her labor." Telling a child what it's like to be responsible for another child is a bit different than telling a grown ass woman she could die on the table.

Because some people get pregnant for the wrong reasons. Im only 20. I had my son at 18. But since I was 13 I knew what it was like to have a baby. I basically helped raise my nephew since he was a newborn. I learned thw techniques of being a parent at only 13. Now I see young girls at 13-16years old TRYING to get pregnant cause they see all these cute photos of a family wearing the same shoes and bullshit. I always tell them the behind closed door stories of parent hood. What it's really like having a baby. Because its true. Its nothing like what they show on tv or movies.
