How do y'all feel bout 12 year olds being left home alone ? I was jw i seen someone make a post it was unacceptable his bm left his daughter home alone and alot of people agreed with him . It prolly depends on the kid but ik i was babysitting at 12 idk i dont have no kids that age so idk how im gonna feel when that time comes yet .

Tbh I would leave my 12 year old home maybe if I was only going out for a second to the store. Not for hours though

I think it would depend on the child and the area in which they live... I would watch my 1 yr and 7 yr old sister when I was 10... so my mom could run to the grocery store for an hour or so... but I was a very responsible kid... I also watched 2 neighbor boys who were 3 and 6 when I was 10... for up to about 4 hours while their parents went out... granted my parents were right across the street if anything happened... I don't know that I would feel comfortable leaving a 10yr old with that kind of responsibility... but I guess if it was a different time.

I was home alone at 12/13 with my ten year old sister. School ended at two and dad worked until 5. If it was nice out, though, we'd be playing with the other kids on the street, so technically we weren't 'home.'

My son is 12 going on 13. Unfortunately, I've never had the luxury of being a stay at home mom so I've had to leave him home alone at 10 y. He's a single child so I don't worry much and hes definitely responsible and independent. So far I have not regrets about having to leave him alone. He's learned to be a "big boy."
