@teniera it looks like a redish brown ball and i didnt try touching it cause i didnt want to hurt her even more if thats why she was screaming shes ok now but for the past few hours she wasnt

It's not supposed to hurt. Have you been cleaning it throughout the day with alcohol?

As long as you've kept it clean it should be fine. If you can post a pic of what it looks like I could tell if it may be infected or starting to get infected.

@babyjjsmommy we only cleaned it I think like a few times and that was it:/ and ill post a picture of it later when shes awake she just fell asleep and i want to make sure she gets some sleep

Okay hun, it may just need a good cleaning. I don't know why nurses send moms home without going into much detail about the cord cleaning. Especially ftms because it's not like we've ever done it before.

Do you know for sure it's from her umbilical cord? As long as it is not infected, it doesnt hurt. It's like having a scab. So when it falls off, it's nothing to them.

Is she too warm? Remove a layer to see if that helps. Or is she cold?

Do you breastfeed? Or bottle feed? If breast, try feeding 1 oz of breast milk via bottle to ensure she is getting enough to eat.

Have you tried swaddling and swaying? Also try a white noise app. Swaddling, swaying and white noise mimics being in the womb. She may simply need some comfort.

I was told you're supposed to clean it all the time, we did it with almost every diaper change and it fell off in no time. Could be sensitive and bothering her, get some alcohol wipes and clean it really good

@ginz no im not sure if its because of her umbilical cord i just thought maybe it was because it just randomly came off and we didn't know. I do breastfeed but i just had fed her an hour ago. We gave her comfort and she still screamed like crazy...it broke my heart:(

Did it just fall off? It's not red and swelled up,so doesn't look very abnormal but if you're concern maybe just call her pediatrician to be sure everything looks okay in their opinion.

Yeah it just fell off today i mean she hasnt been screaming like that since this morning so i think she was either trying to poo or fighting sleep @babyjjsmommy

Do you think she may be gassy? Gas can make a baby very inconsolable. Try gripe water, and see if that helps. If you burp her, make sure you sit there a few minutes each time to try and get all of the gas out, some may just be staying inside and bothering her! Best of luck to you!

I think so but when I do burp her I make sure it all gets out and can I give a 2 week old gripe water? @babyjjsmommy
