so Kendrick is having a really hard time latching. it's been like this since he was born, the lactation consultant said it was common for babies born young (even at 37 weeks) to have difficulty. I've been pumping and hand expressing hoping my milk comes in soon, but I feel so bad that I only have such a little bit to give him 😔 I have my heart set on breastfeeding and so far he's been majority formula fed because his blood sugars and temp have been too low. as long as my babe is healthy I'll be happy, but I definitely really wanted to give breastfeeding a go.

It takes about three to five days for your actual milk to come in. Keep trying momma

I just hope that even if he won't actually breast feed I can pump and fill the bottles myself. @ecahanes

you don't need that much milk especially if he was born early. I would keep trying

I've been pumping or hand expressing every 2 hours and I always give him the colostrum I get @beebaby

I had my little man at 37 weeks, it took about a week for him to get the hang of it. And it took about that long to get my milk to come in. My lactation specialist was really helpful with both of us. Don't get discouraged.

Have you tried a nipple shield? My son wouldn't latch for about a week after birth. At 4 months he started latching without the shield. It takes time, give what you can 😁
