What were ya'll ordered for pain after having a vaginal delivery? They ordered me motrin. That's crap. They act like they don't want to order a narcotic. Wtf I'm not a drug seeker. I just pushed a baby out of my vag! I asked for Percocet so the nurse said she will ask the doctor but tried to give me this schpeal about how they don't like to order narcotics.
I work in a hospital... on a detox unit. You'd be amazed at that people can get addicted to and how you wouldn't think of them that way at all. More so than to prevent addiction, it's for the safety of your new born baby. They don't know how you are going to react or how it's going to affect and since there are more patients on the unit than just you... they can't sit and watch you until they determine it's safe. I was prescribed ibuprofen 600mg... not even 800mg and some hydrocodone or Tylenol 3s. I've pushed all three of my kids out vaginally, and have never taken more than motrin. If your pain is not managed you can request something stronger... but that doesn't mean you'll get it and that's the doctors choice.
The amount of opioid dependence in this country is astronomical and they are just trying to help prevent more people from becoming addicted and dependent.
Yeah it's just crappy. They act like everyone is going to get addicted or something. Um no, not planning on taking these forever. Just had a baby. It's kind of a painful thing.
I had a natural vaginal delievery with a 3rd degree tear and I only got ibuprofen and I was breastfeeding . I just kept up with taking it so it wasn't sooooo bad , I only ended up taking it a little over a week after having my daughter then the pain was tolerable.
I had a csection and the only narcotics I got was in the hospital. I went home in pain and motrin. it could be worse
I didn't breastfeed and was still only given Motrin. I was hoping for something a little stronger. I had horrible cramps after I had my son. I just took what I was given and didn't ask questions.
They gave me Percocet in the hospital while breastfeeding but motrin when I left. It obviously wasn't as strong but I found if you take it like 30 min before your scheduled for the next dose it works better so it doesn't ever wear off.
600mg of ibuprofen with a third degree tear. I wasn't even breastfeeding, but that was all they wanted to prescribe.
