Need some advice...my poor little man is so uncomfortable and in so much pain whenever he is trying to push to do a poo. He spends alot of the day pushing and going bright red with the effort and will only get a dirty nappy 2 or 3 times a week so obviously he's uncomfortable. Is the constant straining and finding it difficult to poo normal? Read online from someone else that it's normal cause their little bodies are still getting used to everything and he was at hospital the other day (for another reason) and they weren't concerned when I told them about this problem but I'm just really worried as it's very obvious he's in alot of pain/discomfort...so really just want to know, was anyone else's baby like this and does anyone have anymore info or advice?

Morgan was like this as a newborn & I mentioned it to doctors & midwives/ health visitors which were not concerned. I disagreed because Morgan had gone a week without a poo & I said I'm sorry but if we went that long we'd be uncomfortable. If he's going a few times a week you could try sips of water in between feeds. Moving his legs around like he's riding a bike & rubbing his tummy. If he gets really bad take him to get checked by your GP. I did in the end & they gave Morgan some laxatives to help. He was fine after a week or 2 on that.
