I hope you feel better soon and your production picks up! You can take Tylenol and Motrin/Advil/ibuprofen for the discomfort and fever and drink lots of hot water with honey and lemon if your throat is sore.

I mean he isn't sick or unhealthy. he just has periodic breathing because he was born prematurely. but being born premature increases the chance of getting sick so better safe than sorry. I do feel like my fever is breaking though so that is a good thing. @ciraclesmiracle it did help. thank you. @raquely

And I would talk to a lactation consultant about giving your baby your milk when you're sick. I know a healthy baby won't contract a cold or flu from his mom's breastmilk, but if baby is in NICU it could be different. Better to be cautious.

Also, I know it's hard when you're sick, but you have to eat. You need 1800 calories per day to keep your production up. Eat anything that sounds appealing--bread or crackers with butter, soup, ice cream, pudding--anything. It doesn't matter if it's healthy, just get those calories down.

He won't get your cold from your breast milk--so that's good news. I ask about the meds because decongestants can dry up your milk. I agree with @raquely, drink tons and tons of fluids. Gatorade and Powerade help. I'm sorry your sick and I'm sorry your baby is in NICU

the baby is not home though. I barely see him and if I'm sick I can't go see him in the hospital anyway :( @raquely

I've only taken Tylenol and that was just now. I barely see my baby though. Today was the first time I've held him in a few days (he's in the nicu. I'm not a neglectful mom.) @raquely @ciraclesmiracle

Are you taking any decongestants? Sudafed, Benadryl, mucinex, cold meds, etc???
