I need to increase my milk supply I think it's drying up what should I do??? I'm still nursing. 😢😢
She drinks 2-3 oz per feeding and yes I did take some cough syrup the other day Bc I was coughing @ciraclesmiracle,
Pumping 9oz would be considered oversupply. When you're EBF your body acclimates to your baby's needs and a 3mo old baby would eat about 25oz of milk per day. Divide that by 8-10 (since most babies nurse every 2-3 hours), and you get approx 3oz per feeding. My son is 6mo and he is ebf, but my MIL gives him pumped milk a couple times a week and he can usually take down 4-5oz at a time and he's a big boy. If you are pumping between 3-6oz per pumping session, that's normal. How many ounces of pumped milk is your daughter taking after nursing?
Are you taking any medications like Benadryl, allergy medication or anything with antihistamines? Antihistamines can dry up your supply. If you're EBF then your supply should be well-established by 3mo. I'm not sure why it would dry up for no reason. Is it possible that she's going through a growth spurt and just needs more milk? Is she cluster feeding/eating more frequently or is she just wanting more ounces? To increase your supply I would try putting her to the breast more often and "power pumping". Pump 10 min/rest 10 min--continue the cycle for an hour. Also, as other mentioned, lots of water and Gatorade. You can also try lactation cookies--there are lots of great recipes on Pinterest (bonus--they taste yummy!). Also, make sure you're eating enough. You need at least 1800 calories a day and you need a good balance of fats/carbs/protein. My friend tried to diet and her supply absolutely tanked. 🍀🍀🍀
@trayt15, o should be getting some of that soon I ordered it yesterday on Amazon
@mommagi, in the beginning oatmeal worked but now it isn't helping Bc I had some yesterday n I just pumped n I only got 3 oz in the beginning when I had oatmeal I would have like 9oz n spraying in her face when I nursed 😩😩 none of that these days unless I'm away from her for a while, n even then I'll only get like 6-7 oz @mommagi, @ciraclesmiracle, @mommyof2queens, @newlymom, @trayt15,
actually no, it's fine since you're exclusively breastfeeding. I, myself, prefer hand expressing than a breast pump; it draws more milk out.
I do drink a lot of water I think I'm gonn start drinking more @mommyof2queens,
Exclusively breastfeeding but she cries after nursing for more I have to give her a bottle from my stash in the freezer@ciraclesmiracle,
pump for 10-15 minutes after nursing, even if nothing is coming out it's the stimulation that helps
What makes you think it's drying up? Are you exclusively breastfeeding, supplementing with formula or pumping?

Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
😢😢😢
The cough syrup could have temporarily decreased your supply. Anything that's meant to dry up mucous dries up your milk too. I got a cold a few months ago and took something for congestion and my supply dipped. Just drink lots of water and Gatorade and monitor the situation for a couple days. If it doesn't seem to improve, try a couple rounds a day of power pumping. Hopefully the situation just sorts itself out!
