@ssdj4, I agree. I feel after 18 months the transition should be put into years.

Until a year and a half I think it's OK to use months when asked how old is your kid. There is a lot of development that happens in those 6 months after a year old that sometimes the months help to determine where the baby is. After 18 months, just say a year and a half or almost 2
