@maria.alvarez, they say cause baby can have nipple confusion and may not want to take the breast again. Well I used it for 4 months and when I stopped my daughter latched on good again so I guess it depends on the baby

I use the Madela nipple shield. It's been great for my baby and me. The lactation consultants gave us one while we were in the hospital and told us just to use if for 2 weeks but we have been using it for almost 3 months. We have bottle fed pumped breast milk several times and she handled the bottle with no issues...I personally believe she did well with it bc she was used to the silicon nipple shield. I clean them daily and have an extra one on hand at all times.

I like the medela ones. They also told me shields could only be used for two weeks and I actually used them for 4 months (my baby had a tooth when she was born) and then I tried feeding her without one and she latched on perfectly. It just depends on your baby tbh.
