So we go over to Gianni's paternal grandparents house tonight. They only speak Spanish (they're Cuban). But anyway, I received a text the other day from my mother in law saying "give my boy a kiss from AGUELA". And I'm thinking what's AGUELA?!?! Lol. But tonight I realized they mean ABUELA! They say AGUELA but they mean ABUELA... now any Spanish I know I have learned from school and I am in no way fluent or anything. Hell I mainly read and write. But has anyone else heard of this? I don't want to sound rude but I don't think AGUELA is a real thing? and I want my son to learn proper Spanish. Not made up words. Please correct me if I'm wrong... she also cannot spell at all. Agua is Hagua, salsa is sasa and so on.
Even Gianni's dad has no idea what aguela is. He says she must just be stupid... if it's a real thing, fine. But I just know she's really illiterate. She received no education in Cuba
@vannahjam14, lol. Well at least other people have heard of it! My sons father and my family who are native speakers all said it wasn't real! I feel bad doubting her but she cannot spell, do math or anything 😔.
@Chela915 lol it's so hard to even know what she's writing in texts because she cannot spell and has no education. As long as she's not making up things I'm fine. It's just sad how poorly she writes.
lol lawd, well listen don't hold me to it! If all else fails Google is our best friend @bonniesue
@angelinashell, I have never heard this and even my sons father who is a native speaker says she must mean abuela. Lol. It's so confusing because she has no education at all and cannot spell lol
Never heard aguela. But remember every nationality has different forms of spelling and saying/calling things.
