This may be a long shot, but I'm in need of advice! My little was diagnosed with hemolytic anemia when she was about two weeks old. She has had to have two blood transfusions to keep her blood cell count up. She's been fine since about a month old, but she could possibly have a red blood cell disorder (they haven't tested yet due to the transfusions). Medications such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen/Motrin can see off her anemia and I am absolutely terrified to give her anything. She's been super congested and snotty for about three weeks now and the saline drops aren't cutting it. Any moms out there with anemic babies and what do you give them for colds? I just don't want her to end up in the hospital again just because I give her some Tylenol cold medicine.
@meilin91, @santistevanmommie thank y'all so much! I'm definitely gonna look into it because I feel terrible sucking crap out of her face three times a day and putting baby Vicks on her nose every time she sleeps.
Yeah it's better safe than sorry. That medicine works for babies as young as 2 months. Although I wouldn't recommend it for use that little. When caleigha teeths she gets congested and a cough so we use that. It really helps with getting the mucus out
@santistevanmommie, I'll definitely have to look into it. She's six months old now and there's a good possibility that she could have grown out of the anemia, but her red blood cell count was a little on the lower side when we went at the beginning of November and I'm terrified to set it off.
@meilin91, yes that's the stuff!!!
