I have my strep b test next Wednesday. What should I expect? Also I was check to see if I was dialated almost 2 weeks…

@kedrababy, I've never heard of a dr doing that tbh. I would personally rather them just give me the antibiotics thru my iv when i go into labor because i can not swallow a pill to save my life.

My dr actually did a blood or urine test for my strep b. No swab. & he just put me on an antibiotic bc I tested positive

yup, qtip swab to the vagina and down outer anus lol. it felt uncomfortable to me, as well as the dilation check but only for a moment

Thank you @dawnrose . @canaryv It didnt hurt at all the first time I got checked, it hurt more with the qtip. with the qtip I whined a little bit. They were being so gentle but it just hurt lol. If i make a single sound my doctor will come up with something to say to make me feel like a bad mom

Getting my cervix checked and the strep test done went by super quick and didn't hurt at all! Now when you're in labor the cervix checks suck 😖 but a quick dilation check wasn't too bad. The qtip goes inside the vagina but not in deep and then the swipe it down to the anus. They don't actually stick it inside which was what I was terrified of as well 😂

you'll be fine, I guarantee having the baby and healing up from labor with take the cake. you got this ✊

@1st_time_wonder, @dawnrose I don't have a choice but to have my doctor do it unless for some reason I have to go to Labor and Delivery. i thought my water broke 2 weeks ago but turns out I just had a yeast infection i got from antibiotics. I hate the qtips but I'm more worried ill be in so much pain after the fact they do that and check if im dialated. When I was check in the hospital they were so gentle about it.

they didn't touch anything to my anus, but she did put something maybe a qtip in my vagina. and swabbed me. a lot of walking or squats should help you dilate. and if sex isn't a option you can always masterbate. that should help also

@kcp1997 You can go to a hospital to get it done. I thought I was in labor at 37 weeks and they went ahead and did the group B strep test... Wasn't bad at all. And her name is Genesis Pearl-Lynn Read 💜 She was born October 1 😍

@1st_time_wonder, that's good. I'm really nervous for my actual doctor to be doing this stuff though. I'd much rather have the nurses in Labor and delivery do it. My doctor doesn't really know how to do her job tbh. Awee, what is her name? My little girls name is Nevaeh, she's due December 23rd

@kcp1997 They don't put it in your anus, just wipe it over it... And no, unfortunately I don't... I'm a FTM too. I just had my little girl about two months ago

@1st_time_wonder, I keep hearing different stories how they put the qtip in your anus as well, is that true? Sorry ftm. I hate having a dry qtip in my vagina I definitely do not want one in my booty. Do you know if there are anyways I can do it at home? Without spending money on anything, Im on a tight budget for now. Sex isn't an option for me :(

Strep B is just a swab from just inside your vagina to your anus :/ And I've heard that raspberry mint tea (I think) can help labor get going
