The father does for the most part .

We supply the X, they supply either an X or a Y. If their sperm with X chromosome reaches the egg first you'll have a girl because 2 X chromosomes are girl. If his Y sperm reaches the egg first you'll have a boy because XY is a boy!

Ya so if your bf doesn't get what he wants tell him it's his fault!

I had this question at the beginning too! Only men carry the Y chromosome. Women are XX, men are XY. If women dictated gender then we would only have females because we don't carry that Y chromosome at all. I thought that was interesting!
