One of my close friends has a terrible cold and her husband is out of town, so I'm bringing her a pot of home made chicken broth with tortellini, lots of toasted garlic and fresh parsley. Broth is one of the most nourishing foods you can eat and it's made out of scraps! I buy organic free range chicken from the farmers market and it costs a fortune, so I make the most of every morsel and use the carcass to make bone broth. Simply put the carcass in a pot with a couple carrots, a few stalks of celery, some garlic cloves, one onion and some parsley (I use the stems and save the leaves). Cover it all with water and let it simmer on low for at least 3 hours, and up to 24! Delicious and nutritious!!!
@wethreepeas, thanks--she would do the same for me! ❤️ my friends!!! @bentleysmomma it's great in the crock pot! You can let it go all day or all night! If you get a rotisserie chicken you can pull the meat off it and use the skin and bones. It makes the most flavorful chicken noodle soup ever, and it's a great way to stretch your food budget!
