Feeling kind of emotional and sad at the same time π’. I have three sisters and I'm a bit closer to 2 of them that live close to me and we hang out at least twice a week. So one of my sister's daughter's is a lesbian and I just found out 2 days ago!!! I feel bad because I thought I was close to them and that they would tell me from the beginning!! I feel like I'm not as close as I thought I was to them and it really hurts me. I love my niece with all my heart no matter what!!! I kind of knew that she was because she was always hanging out with the girl she was dating and only reason my sister ended up telling me was because the girl broke up with my niece and my niece texted my sister when she was at my house and she started crying. I know I'm a good sister and aunt but I guess I'm not good enough π’ I just feel like keeping my distance and focus on my little family and not anyone else!!!

I wouldn't be too upset, love! You never know how people will react to those things regardless of how open minded they seem to be, like the lovely lady above me said, a lot of people wouldn't be as accepting as you are. She was probably just worried about judgment. I am bisexual and none of my family knows aside from my sister because I fear for how they will react.
Not trying to sound assholish, but is it really your business? I see that as a personal thing and a lot of people don't want to shout it from the roof tops. Maybe they didn't want to make a big deal. I doubt they wanted to keep you in the dark. I wouldn't take it so hard, I'm sure they love you and know you'd accept her.
Sadly most family wouldn't b as accepting as u r. I know lots of ppl that have stayed in the closet for quite a long time due to fear od not being accepted by the family. Maybe talk to ur sister and niece at some point but don't let it upset u to much
