mine is starting to get a hang of it at 7 months. she'll fall after 5 mins or so mostly because she wants everything around her

My daughter sat by herself with no assistance or supervision at 6 months.

My daughter was 4 months when she started to build the strength and could do it for like 3 seconds but wasn't fully sitting up on her own for awhile. My son is 4.5 months and he stays up if I sit him up. Totally depends on the baby! If he can't keep his head up during tummy time I would contact a physician about that, otherwise it's normal for him to not be able to sit up yet.

@meli2890, I'm sure he will do it when he is ready! I know *most* babies are doing it by 6 months. My daughter was just freakishly early with it. Even her pediatrician was surprised.

It definitely depends on the baby. My daughter was fully sitting on her own by 4 1/2 months. But I know it takes other babies longer.
