Packing my hospital bags, have I missed anything for baby...

4 sleepsuits & 5 vests of varying sizes from tiny to 0-3, 1 snowsuit (due Dec so potentially cold), a pair of scratch mitts, 2 hats, 2 bibs, a blanket, bath towel, cotton wool, nappies & bepathen, instant milk & bottle incase I can't breastfeed, 3 muslin cloths... anything else we might need?

I guess it's upto @newmommyapril though, if she wants to use wipes then she's gonna use them. No matter how much people told me not to use this and that I made my own decisions, and we've got to 2 years old with no problem so hey ho ✌🏽️

@winterbaby95 I'm guessing your child has really sensitive skin then cause a load of other people seem to be fine using wipes lol

@newmommyapril I used Mamia sensitive wipes...so maybe it was just the wipes or my daughter has really sensitive skin xxx

I've used Tesco own brand, Asda own brand, johnsons, pampers, you name it we've used it and not once has my little boy EVER had a rash... he's now 2. Don't go by what the midwives tell you, and don't listen to everything a health visitor says. Do what you feel is right for your baby xx

Which baby wipes did you use @natroberts88 ? have you found any cause a reaction? I've got Pure wipes to start with but had planned on just cotton wool for a while. Looks like roughly 10 days for the cord to come off then!

@winterbaby95 I guess if they don't need it I won't use it. Times have changed from the old days when they slapped some cream and talc on every change! I opened the packet of nappies I've got and the smell made me well up, it's such a lovely smell. Can't wait for my little human to get here (especially now I know it won't smell) 😂😍 xx

@newmommyapril If you change the nappy regularly and don't leave them sitting in poo :) then they shouldn't ever get a rash :) I use cotton wool and water on my daughter still and she is 8.5 months :) Never once had any trouble (except after using a wipe) but a good wash...pat dry and some coconut oil (use it for massaging her after the bath) and the redness was gone in the morning xxx

@newmommyapril Lots of people actually use it every nappy change regardless of rash or not...but I think its unnecessary :) In my hospital that was their policy not to bath them until after 4 days...not sure if it's the same in yours...Yeah...they rub them down..get all the blood off etc :) And they don't smell 😂😂 they just smell like fresh little humans! It's a wonderful smell 😍😍👌 And the smell stays for quite some time...even after their first bath :) My daughters took 10 days to fall off:) I just topped and tailed her..and gave her a little wipe with a cloth etc avoiding the cord stump :) xxx

I used nappy cream on my little boy from birth & baby wipes and he's been fine. Cords can take up to 10 days to fall off but you can top & tail them with warm water & cotton wool to keep them clean :) as for cleaning them after birth, I have no idea as I was high on the painkillers they gave me 😂 @newmommyapril

Oooh thank you @winterbaby95 ! I wasn't sure if you're meant to use nappy cream all the time or not so that's good to know. I didn't know they don't have a bath until 4 days either! 😳 Do they clean them properly after they've come out? I know it's not exactly a high priority but I don't want a smelly baby 😂 How long does the cord take to drop off?

I read all these posts from moms around the same stage as me and forget that I'm there too and should be taking note 🙈 xx

Coconut oil is really good for rashes though :) I really recommend it :) it is also natural :) Midwives suggested olive oil and coconut oil for massaging their skin...as it starts flaking xxx

They say not to put anything other than water on their skin in the first month or so :) Xxx

Sounds perfect hun :) you wont need a bath towel or nappy cream though (never had to use any with my daughter....I personally don't think you should put any cream on them until they actually have a rash...if you are using cotton wool...its is unlikely they will...the only time my daughter had a bit of a red bum is when I used a wipe once) And they didn't bath babies in the hospital until 4days old :) They cant have a proper bath until the cord has fallen off :) xxxx
