there had been so much tension between me and my family because I didn't do things the "traditional" way and I'm having my baby out of wedlock. I'm engaged and my fiance and I are both working hard to pay off my bills and to get a place but its never enough for my family.. they also proceeded to say if I applied for any type of assistance that they would completely drop me. I mean I can do this without assistance but pregnancy medicaide would make everything a bit easier and less stressful. but my parents say it's stealing from the government and they didn't raise a daughter to do that.. I don't even know like how to handle all this.. Both my fiance and my grandmother say that I'm an adult and a mom now and that I have to make my own decisions.. but it's so hard when my mom helicopters over everything I do.

I have the same problem but I had my baby already and my mom is on my ass about raising my baby the way she raised me. I moved out I got married and still on my ass. It's just something a mother we'll always do.

This is a no Brainer. You are a grown woman. I'm sure your parents broke the rules when they were young. No one is perfect. Do you, live your life and if your parents don't know, they need to know you are pregnant and don't need the extra stress and tension.

ask them if they're going to pay your bills for you because you're doing what you have to do to ensure that you have enough money to raise your kid. it wouldnt even be smart to purposely put yourself in debt to please your parents, why do they want you to make a bad parenting decision like that?

@l0tus, well they were able to do it on their own. but they don't want me to struggle.. although me having to pay out for things that I can get help with is causing me to struggle..
