ok question. when i was in labor i got the epidural at 5cm. i was laid on my side and flipped back and forth about every hour bc my epidural was shifting with my body causing me to feel contractions on the opposite side i was layin on... i was told i couldn't lay on my back until pushing time. is that normal? i told a friend and she seemed surprised by the fact that i was told i couldnt lay on my back during labor

when my friend got her epidural she was made to lay on her side because the medicine was only working on one side of her body. she tossed side to side until she started pushing

@mrsnewman10511, at my hospital after an epidural flat is the only way you're allowed to lay that way it affects both sides and not just one the way you experienced.
@mrsnewman10511, what the crap? never in my life have I heard of that. and I have many friends who have babies who used different hospitals than me. that's so weird.....
i had to have a peanut shaped yoga ball between my legs the whole time too she said to keep my pelvis open...? @nicemmcha2015

They had me on my sides while I was laboring & allowed me to lay back while pushing so I had the same thing basically. They gave the peanut ball too but it made my baby's heart rate slow down
