so upset to find out that the company I work for...told me I don't qualify for maternity leave cuz I ain't full time. Plus I don't really now the laws here. The one thing that hurts me is that I won't have those special months to bond with my little baby girl, all because I have to work to get money in. uuugghhh
that's what worrying me leaving my husband all the bills plus food and stuff. I am that type of woman that will help her husband no matter what situation we are at. And that's mest up that you work full time hours and they still consider you part time worker. I don't know whats up with the company's now adays
that suck that the company would fire you just for those days you should sue them! @beanieboo
@beanieboo, I work full time hours in a kitchen on my feet all day. It's very hard because my ribs and my back hurts, I have no energy and I'm always out of it but I have to work. We can't live on one income here. Some weeks I put in 50+ hours but only get paid for part part time because I'm salary. I don't mind working but wish I could do something slower paced for now. 😑
I have worked at my job for over a year. I work full time hours but only get paid a salary of part time. So.... I do not qualify for paid maternity leave however, I do get 6 weeks off so I plan to work up until a day or two before I'm induced. The rest will be with baby. I'm starting to out $ back now for my time off because otherwise the bills wouldn't get paid with just my husbands income. 😔 sucks but nothing I can do about it.
ya & I had a job but was fired because I was out three days and two were baby appointments the other was cause I was throwing up nacous. :/
I'm sorry. I figured I'd be rushing back because my leave is unpaid but we've cut back on things and I'm glad I've had some time
im glad I don't have to work.. I legit cant I dont understand how u or other pregnant woman do it but I cant even do things I enjoy and even walking to the kitchen takes out so much energy.
What do you do for work? Can you call hr to see what rights you have? I'm per diem so I'm not getting paid but my job is secure.
I was crying so much after I spoke to them. I was like that sucks for us pregnant woman that have to suck it up and wait until your water brakes. I want to stay at home for a little while and have that special contact with my baby girl 😢😦😞
For FMLA (12 Weeks Unpaid Maternity Leave with job security), you must meet both requirements - 12 months of Full-Time Work prior to the leave. Those are federal regulations. Some companies offer extra things to their own employees. For instance, my fiancé gets 2 months of fully paid paternity leave through his company! I qualify for FMLA but also receive short and long term disability pay during those 12 Weeks.
Depends upon the state, fmla isn't paid if you do qualify. Like illinois doesn't have short term disability and my job didn't offer any paid maternity leave. Fmla just protects your job whole your gone so they can't get rid of you. It's a struggle and it sucks I was totally there. Regardless if it's paid or not your doctor probably won't clear you to work for 6 weeks anyway and with a drs note legally they can't fire you or hire a replacement in your place.
I did already and they told me I can get unpaid personal leave. I have Aetna
Does it matter what state you are in? I really don't know where to look since I only have 6 months here in Houston Texas hun@mdomke22
Unfortunately federal law for maternity leave/FMLA requires 12 months at company prior to leave, working full time during the prior 12 month period. California has some different state laws but they are one of the few.
@lindarubi, it sucks but I stick with it because he best part of the job... I'm home every evening, weekend and holidays with my family. :)
