My baby is three weeks old today and his umbilical cord stump still hasn't fallen off. It doesn't even look like it's trying to. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

@bonniesue, @jacey3 @sarahb518 I've been keeping it dry but the nurses told me not to use alcohol on it. I guess It's no longer recommended because it doesn't speed things along and kills the good bacteria along with the bad. It still looks healthy it's just not coming off.
as long as you wipe it with alcohol pads with every diaper change it will dry the stump and soon it should fall. my first born had it for about a month and my second had his for 2 weeks and then it was gone.
Have you tried cleaning/dropping alcohol on it? That dries it up some.
Are you keeping it completely dry? It should at least be starting to fall off.
I was told to use it in the hospital, by my OB and multiple pediatricians (my son was in the hospital a long time so he saw a few doctors)... this was in October 2015.
