When can babies start having baby food?? (Not the hard stuff of course)

doctors say 4 months if they are showing signs they are interested in your food, my daughter used to watching every bite i took and open her mouth for some

My baby's doc said when we get to his four month appointment, we'll talk about starting him on baby foods

My pediatrician said 4 months you can stay putting rice in their bottles.

6 months is the time to introduce anything besides breastmilk or formula. 2016 medical opinion that is. My son was very interested in us eating about 5 months and a week so we gave him son, so it's not a definite science butttt most 4 months old are way too young.

Well you know I don't follow rules ( lol ) but I just introduced banana baby food to my son this week and he loves it

@lexirosex3, reasons you wait and look for cues given by child before you introduce food ---child has strong reflux mechanism as in they won't swallow anything but liquid because they are not ready with their digestive system. So that's why they mouth food and spit it out? Another main reason is SAFETY! If you give your child food and he or she is not ready to swallow food like that the baby will choke. It is absolutely dangerous!!!! just because a baby is swallowing liquid doesn't mean they can do bananas or even purees. Like I said we started before 6 months and I know many people/ family who did so before as well BUT. The point is safety. Cues are: drooling, chewing mouth movements high interest in your food..,

Every baby develops differently so just watch your child's progress and tailor it to his/hers. But 6 months is the safest for sure time to introduce it :)

@lexirosex3, started Ethan with cereal at 4 months. It's recommended not to put in bottles unless they're spitting up a lot. Preferred method is mixing with your breast milk if you're breastfeeding and by spoon. Giving via bottle is not for nutritious purposes.

@jazmin805, I thought Ethan was ahead with the teeth but your lil one takes the lead. Ethan is 9 months with 6 teeth. First one was at 4 months. And his teeth just appears. Thankfully we never had the teething problems so to speak *knocks on wood
