Can someone please tell me how to relieve engorged breast? This is my first time breastfeeding and I had my princess on the 29th. My breast are extremely hard, achy and swollen. I find relief after nursing but with in a few hours they just go back to being painful and hard): I'm in so much pain. Anyone who can offer advice please message me.
I'll have to try it in the shower! Thank you so much for the awesome advice! It's so appreciated!
Hand expressing has definitely been a learned skill for me, not easy at first. I need warmth to do it, so I take a shower. Hard to watch the milk go down the drain, but it does help. There are youtube videos showing you how.
omg the sweetness! I've tried expressing myself but nothing really comes out. The only time I actually get relief is if she eats. @sam.g

Have you used ice packs or something cold? I did and it helped. I am to the point now that warm feels better, so I microwave the gel booby things.
I read in "The Womaly Art of breastfeeding" that you should wait until 6 weeks if baby and mom are healthy. It will let this painful/swollen engorgement phase pass without messing up the supply and demand system. If you start sooner, your boobs will be triggered to make even more milk, which has its own problems. But hand expressing to get comfortable is fine.
Mine do too, mama, but this week is better than last week. Just gotta power through and know it has to get better! Massaging while nursing has helped me a ton. I kinda walk my fingers all around my boobs. (mine are fairly small, big B or little C cup with milk)
Your body will regulate soon. Pumping now might lead to oversupply issues. Just hand express to comfort. I also massaged all around my boob while he was nursing to make sure no ducts got blocked.
I can't get anything from using my pump @amaresmama
@sam.g, my daughter is eating Pretty much every 2-3 hours.
Baby should be eating fairly frequently. I am 15 days postpartum and the first week was tough and sometimes I'd have to wake him to eat.
