Breastfed babies gain slower, and it seems like growth charts take formula fed babies into consideration more than breastfed. I would say if baby spit up formula there's no point to continue giving it to them- it's going to make gaining weight harder. I hope the little one starts gaining soon!!

One of my twins wasn't gaining weight and the dr told me to start supplementing 1oz after each feeding. She said it didn't matter if it was breastmilk or formula. I nursed then gave 1oz of breastmilk after each feeding for a week and he started gaining weight so she told me I could stop. I was worried about failure to thrive too bc he wouldn't wake up for feedings and fell asleep after only a few minutes, but he's doing much better now. Hopefully yours will catch up too. 🤗

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, breastfed I gave him like an ounce and a half of formula yesterday and he spit it all back up so it kind of reinforced my feeling that I don't want him on formula.

Formula fed, breastfed, or both?

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, he's six weeks today. Yesterday he weighed 7 pounds 12 and a half ounces. His birth weight was 7 pounds 6 ounces and he lost down to 6 pounds 10 ounces so they're saying he's not gaining fast enough, he's in the bottom 2% she said.

I think doctors forget every kiddo grows at a different rate. I just found out my 1 year old lost weight since the last weight in but they're not counting him as FTT because he's active and growing in other measurements. How old is your little one?

I have a tiny baby 👶🏼 He was only 5lbs 13oz 19inches. Now he is 16.2pounds 27inches. Son worry mama everything will be fine, just keep doing what ur doing. It take a little bit longer for Liam to gain weigh but, he was born at 36weeks. He was just grown slower then another babies that's okay. Ur baby will start gaining more weight later on.
