What's everyone's opinions on double barrelled names

i'm personally not a fan! some are lovely but over used :)

my name's Emily-May and I hate it.bein brought up in a family where Emily-May was my name and not Emily meant I got called the wrong thing in school and got sent for hearing tests because I'd refuse to answer to them ! 🤓 so if you go double barrelled you have to make sure everyone knows it's either double barrelled or don't talk to my child! :p

My name is April-Louise and I only ever get called it by my mother if I've done something wrong (or mock shock) ... even at 25 years old haha Not many people expect it these days and I certainly don't introduce myself with my full name. Is there a reason you want to double-barrell rather than a first and middle name? x

Both my neice and nephew have double barreled names and they both answer to the one name, my nephew idea Michael-John but answers to Mike, Michael or MJ and my neice is Jasmine-Ann but answers Jasmine Jaz, Jazzy, Jazzy-Annie or Minnie. my sister gets really annoyed when people only call them once name but they both answer and don't seem bothered. They also have middle names and they are all the family names after my nan, my gramp my dad, so it's like there aren't any left for my babies without them having the same 😞 xx

thanks girls.. just liked it double barrelled but the partner isn't keen.. he thinks we shud just have the name as a middle name instead xx
