My hubby did tons of research (I think because it is like a car, lol) and he went with KeyFit

All car seats are equally safe, as long as they are installed and used correctly. Chicco seats are really awesome for cars with small spaces. But I've used graco as well and liked them too. With this baby we decided to go with a baby trend flex loc 30(this version is the only one that fits newborns well) and I like it too.

I've been doing so much research between the two for a travel system and both car seats seem to be quite similar and really safe. We are going with graco due to the fact it's stroller features and reviews are better than chicco but I don't think you could go wrong with either when it comes to the car seat!
