do u have to get the pitocin when being induced?

Well make sure your dilated enough before getting it. Because it does slow down labor. My water broke at 3am so they had to call in the antisisologist or however you spell it, and it took them 15 minutes to get to the hospital, and then set me up.. So it felt like forever. And it was so painful lol

Yes. I highly suggest getting a epidural before your water breaks.... The contractions from pitocin are extremely painful.

Just ask that you not be started on any medicines after your water is broken. you'd like to give your body a chance to jump start. usually doctors are comfortable waiting 2 hours...Some may be okay with longer but the risk of infection does go up. After it breaks, go for a walk or maybe try a shower if the hospital allows that!

Yes its called labor augmentation if you are already in labor not an induction. I would not have them break your water if you are not already having regular contractions however! The chances of a stall and pitocin go up

nope! I refused it in both of labors. However I was not induced with either. I just had my water broken because my labors stalled. Once my water broke I demanded an iv free birth (some hospitals require you have the line at least started just in case) and the opportunity to walk around, use my ball, and do some yoga. my contractions intensified hour after my water broke.
