I failed the 1 hr and had to take the 3 hr. My advice (because you have to fast) get up early and go to the lab. I ended up being there for 4.5 hours and didn't get to eat until almost 3pm! I was hangry! Lol. It's not bad though. I ended up passing my 3 hour. At least I think so. Still haven't heard from them.

If you fail the 1 hr you will be asked to do a 3hr test. If you fail the 3 hr you will meet with a dietician to discuss how to manage your sugars with diet and exercise. After monitoring your sugars while maintaining diet and exercise, and there is no change, THEN your dr will discuss with you the options of either taking medicine via pill form, or taking insulin shots. You will monitor your sugars for the remainder of the pregnancy by testing your blood with a blood sugar monitor. After you deliver, majority of women will have their blood sugars go back to normal. You will need to do a 3 hr test 6 weeks after delivery to ensure your sugar levels have stabilized. If they have not stabilized you will be asked to follow up with an endocrinologist to discuss a plan to control your diabetes. If you have any questions I'm more than happy to help you! Good luck!

If you fail the 1 hour they make you do the 3 hour test. If you fail both then you're considered diabetic for the remainder of your pregnancy and have to follow a diet and take medicine
