Has anyone else explored the option of delayed cord cutting or a lotus birth? I want to at least leave my babies cord on while in the hospital. if you have any insight or did this yourself I would love to hear your experience.

@breezy1993, i would definitely explore delayed cord clamping but lotus birth seems weird to me

I know it seems weird but it really intrigues me what the benefits could be.I most likely just want to leave the cord on for the hospital stay and see how that goes first then maybe a lotus birth for next baby 🙂

I'm only leaving it attached long enough to see it and take a few photos. Then clamp, cut, and into the cooler for encapsulation.

I don't plan on eating it. I just want to know how allowing the baby to receive more of the cord blood worked for other moms, maybe how the hospital process worked for it all, and whether they think their child benefitted from it.

Most hospitals if any will not allow lotus birthing. They consider the placenta "hazardous waste" because it's an actual body part. Most who lotus birth usually have a birth center or home birth. I was considering it since I'm having a home birth but I decided on just waiting until chord stops pulsating.

@breezy1993,

where you wait until the cord dries up and severs from the placenta on its own. @wethreepeas and my hospital allows delayed cutting which is more what I'm looking at for this pregnancy since its my first and I don't want the upkeep of the placenta for that long maybe for my second @quea
