Ok my SO (marine) pays $600 in child support towards his son from a previous relationship. After his bills are paid he's left with barely any left to live off of. I know child support is based off income but how is it that he's left with so little that he barely gets by. It's hard since we live an hour apart, he lives in the barracks but he uses the lasts bits of money towards our daughter every time... There have been times I helped him because he just wanted so bad to spend time with our daughter. Luckily I have huge help from my family so I'm able to provide what I can for her. But I don't make much either so I can't always help him. He never asks but you get what I'm saying. Our situation sucks. He needs to fix his end. I know that $600 she's getting is spent mostly on herself but 🐸☕️. She's got a house, brand new car and tv... The list goes on. Is there anything he could do? Because this just doesn't seem right now it's affecting our daughter. The distance, the financial situation he's in... Affects me a lot too. He's stressed, I'm stressed. We want to be a family but it's just not happening.
@hart.momma, @alleneia thank you. I will definitely talk to him about it and see what he can do. If it can be done it'll help us out so much.
@sweetpea_nut, I'm not sure how it works in NC but in SC they will adjust it to what his financial situation is. My brothers got adjusted to $200 a month that he pays for his daughter in Texas and $200 for his daughter he has with him in SC. I really hope he can get that changed. Tell him to request another court date and to take all of his proof showing that he can not afford to pay $600 a month anymore. Good luck y'all. I know it's stressful
@sweetpea_nut, I would at least try, your daughter deserves to have your Daddy & for him to be able to support her as well.
@hart.momma, I'll talk to him about the motion. Doesn't hurt to try I guess. Just something needs to be done.
@hart.momma, @arivera64 yeah I know they only care about income which I understand. And knowing her she'll put up a fight. Ugh. We'll figure out something. Just thought I'd ask anyways.
Not every state is the same. Once my niece was born my brother paid less to his son's mom because he had to pay for his daughter as well. It doesn't hurt to have him try to modify it.
@sweetpea_nut, he can actually go back to court & they will actually look over his finances again, seeing now he has 2 kids to care for not just one.
@arivera64, yeah I understand that. I'm just at my wits end and guess just desperate at this point.
@sweetpea_nut, You are very welcome. I know it will. Fingers crossed
