If your body is ready to labor it will work if it's not then no it won't you'll just spot a little and lose your plug but it gets things moving in the right direction

About 8 days later it did

I had the membrane sweep the day before labor happened .. I went into labor at 7 am and made it to hospital at 10cm dialated
