They numb you first so you don't feel it at all

They numbed me first and then stuck me but I felt it so they took it out, numbed me again and then I didn't feel the second poke. But the first poke that I did feel didn't hurt worse than a shot or getting the IV in. Believe me, the pain relief was worth it in the end.

I was very scared to get the epidural too. But it's true when they say the pains from contractions hurt worse than the epidural. When your having them awful cramps, you hardly notice to epidural being administered. And it seriously takes effect like instantly. I flinched a little from the numbing shot, but when they say don't move for the epidural, you don't move, and it's over and done with in seconds. You'll be able to sleep and everything with the epidural. I know someone who did the gas, and they said it didn't take the pain away, just made them feel high and out of it.

I just had my baby Tuesday and was so any epidural but my midwife recommended me getting it do I could rest cause his heart rate was dropping but anyway ..... It's really not that bad worst part is having to sit completely still through a contraction

I just had my baby yesterday and got the epidural and I felt everything he did was sucked! With my first baby I didn't feel the process at all but with this one I felt him put it in and everything ugh but it was worth it I felt a ton of pressure and pain but like I said second pregnancy so maybe why the guy also screwed up and had to put it in again apparently scary to think about! My back was sore yesterday but this morning I felt I great so yea :)

I started with the gas and it doesn't take away the pain just makes it manageable. got the epidural after a while and it wasn't so bad I think. I didn't like having to sit so still but worth it in the end. I don't care for the back pain after the fact of it all but still not bad.

I had an epidural with my first and it was amazing. I actually didn't feel it at all they also do it during a contraction so you are focusing on that and not the epidural. It was sore for a few weeks after and that spot is tender to the touch for about a month. I enjoyed my labor though. With this one I wanted to go natural but with how much pain I'm already in my midwife said due to the stress of my hubby having cancer and taking care of a 4 year old and being pregnant my pain tolerance may be lower and that's why I am already in so much pain so she recommended I get the epidural again so I will be.

The numbing shot they give before it hurts more. The epidural is just a lot of pressure. Very uncomfortable but not super painful
