So I can only pump about 1 1/2 oz of milk every two hours...is that enough for a 12 day old baby? I'm at a loss as to what to do. I wanted to breast feed but he's just not wanting to. Advice before I put him on formula? Bc I really don't want to. I have no problem pumping and giving in a bottle, I just don't feel like I'm producing enough milk for him.
How many wet diapers is he getting ? A minimum of 8 indicates hydrated well fed baby... At least 2 poops in 24 hours... That's how I got some relief when I doubted if I was feeding my baby enough milk
My boy is 7 weeks and I'm pumping 28 ounces that I bottle feed him but he also latches pretty well and nurses well. He is now 14 pounds and like you I wasn't producing much at the beginning. Keep taking fenugreek and stay hydrated. I drink 1.5 gallon of water in 24 hours. Pumping is not enough, massage your breasts and press them while pumping. Breasts will get full if you pump every hour... Just don't give up...
I'm exclusively pumping too and I always worry if I am pumping enough. My little man just turned 3 weeks on Monday and I'm pumping roughly 3-4 oz every 2 hours which is just enough for him. I power pump once a day, drink Gatorade, and I take lactation pills with ferugreek in it. I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference yet.
I was told baby only needs 1 to 1.25 ounces of milk for every hour. I has to stop pumping due to medical issues causing me low supply.have you tried lactation cookies or drinking Gatorade or power pumping?
