I know some may disagree with me, but there was a new study from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine stating that parents are still putting their babies to sleep in unsafe ways that are linked to SIDS. Do not get me wrong SIDS does happen randomly and is unpreventable , I repeat this is not the only reason just may be one of them! For all future moms and first time moms I know how confusing this time can be and there is also many mothers on here with more experience than me, but please don't put your babies to sleep on their stomachs and there should be nothing in your baby's crib but a tight fitting crib sheet, no blankets, no toys , no bumpers! The incidence rate of SIDS has gone down significantly since parents were told to avoid putting these items in cribs. I only say this with sincerest concern not to criticize anyone's actions!
@nichole_lynn, SIDS is used as a catch all phrase. If a child suffocates due to objects being in the crib the cause is known and therefore isn't SIDS. My nephew died in his mother's arms while sleeping there wan nothing that could save him not cpr, not machines. There is a difference between Accidental Infant Death and SIDS is my only point. Yes parents should be aware of all of those things its just that you see SIDS evetywhere and there is a difference.
SIDS happens a lot while baby is sleeping, these could be causes and they could not. they still advice not to put them into babies crib @surprise4 like you said, the cause is unknown. taking these out is another way to prevent infant death.
These items being put in a infants crib is linked to SIDS, I am not saying it a cause.
@nichole_lynn, i do. sorry mama i have to reread
