CRY IT OUT WORKED

After 6.5 months on my baby only being able to sleep by me nursing and rocking her I got so frustrated. I put in her crib and let her cry it out. After only 20 mins she fell asleep and I am relieved. Not even my DH could put her to sleep and no other methods work. Any other moms try this method and had it work for them? I know it is controversial but I was desperate.

@pp I used the extinction method with no check ins because that made her more upset the first and second night like 45 mins she cried. And then 3rd night only like 15 mins. 4th day I did cio for naps and night time and she fell asleep in minutes. Such a great decision!

When you guys say cry it out or sleep training ... how long are you supposed to let them cry ?

I did it when I transitioned from swing to crib. The first night was absolute hell. The second, she was out. She was sleeping 12 hours a night but recently started waking 2 hours after falling asleep, and at 215, on the dot every single night, and I know she's not hungry. I'm gonna start again tonight, because I'm exhausted.

Ooo yeah ok I’m going to go look for it! At this point I’m used to not sleeping but at the same time I want sleep so bad!

You should read the book. It talks about what to do if your baby vomits and also discusses slowly weaning the baby off night feedings. I’ll bet your baby sleeps through the night after just a couple of nights. Mine did the second night and she used to be up 1-2 times a night nursing.

I have a super distracted eater during the day and not sure if he’s trying to make up the extra calories at night. How do we know if baby is hungry or just crying out of habit? ??‍♀️

We just sleep trained too! He is doing so good and comforting himself. I never did this with my 4 other kids. I was worried that they were really hungry at night. I wish I would have done it with his other siblings. I’m so happy I did it! He is a much happier baby during the day now! Love it!

@kellwith, I feel like my lo is going to give me a hard time as well because she’s so feisty! She gets mad really fast so idk how it’s gonna go for us but I’m still going to try!

Ive tried but my LO will make herself puke if I let her cry for more then a couple mins. Its ridiculous.

Sleep training was by far the best decision we made for our son and family! It’s not easy.. but teaching your baby a brand new skill (falling asleep on their own) is going to require some tears. Good job, momma!

I sleep-trained my babe at 4.5 months, but I felt like he was ready. I used the cry it out method, but only when he is showing signs of sleepiness (yawning, rubbing eyes, acting fussy).. and I was a wuss and only gave him 10 minutes. LUCKILY, he would be asleep by the 7th or 8th minute (although it felt like hours). Nowadays, he doesn’t cry, but rather make grumpy noises (we call it his own lullaby) to soothe himself to sleep, and it doesn’t last past 5 minutes. ????

Also before most nights I was bed sharing with her and I regret that. I know it's not the safest and I know she will be safe in her crib even if she has to cry a little bit. I would rather have her upset and safe in her crib than rolling off my bed or under me.

@olay I agree I felt that she was more than capable of falling asleep on her own she was giving me all the cues of being tired. She was yawning rubbing her eyes. She was fed changed and loved! Any younger than this I would of have been weary.

I think it’s ok to let them cry it out at this point. When they are like 6 months and up. Not when they are newborns or still too little. I’m going to start sleep training my baby pretty soon. Maybe within the next month or so and I’m sure that she’s going to cry but I don’t want her sleeping with me forever. She still wakes up 3-4 times at night and I’m pretty sure it’s just to comfort suck on my boob, not really because she’s hungry.

Opinions on crying it out?

Opinions on crying it out? My baby is 8 1/2 months old. I've tried the no tears method and it worked a couple times but now it doesn't anymore. I do squats while holding her and rock her (21 lbs baby) for over an hour each nap all for nothing. My friend said she did cry it out and by the 3rd day her baby would only cry 5 minutes and now he's totally fine with sleeping in the crib. Opinions please? I am the only one who actually raises my kid. My fiancé does not help and I have no family that helps. So it is very hard on me. Thank you Edit: because clearly some of the women on here think I'm a monster. I am an EMT. When I go back to work, I will be gone 24 hours at a time. My daughter is almost 9 months old and cries every minute she is not in my arms. As much as I want to comfort her every second of the day, I can't. And it's better I get her used to sleeping on her own now, than not letting her cry and all of a sudden mommys gone for 24 hours at a time and she completely loses it and I can't just get off work to comfort her.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
