Regardless of how you deliver your baby, C-section or vaginal, you are still a mother. Too many…
Regardless of how you deliver your baby, C-section or vaginal, you are still a mother. Too many people have misconceptions about C-section moms. Some is unintentional but many of these uninformed comments can be quite offensive and hurtful. And they are completely missing the fact, that the most important thing is that both the mom and baby are healthy and happy.👶🏽
Here are six things you should not say to a C-section mom.
1️⃣ “Too bad you couldn’t have a normal birth.”
Many cesareans are performed because of health concers or in emergencies to ensure the health of the baby, mom or both. But it doesn’t matter. There should be no shame or regret over the C-section.
2️⃣ “A cesarean is way easier than a vaginal birth.”
It’s major abdominal surgery and many moms have gone through hours of labor and pushing before the C-section. Postpartum after a cesarean is not easier or better. It’s different and both should be honored.
3️⃣ “A c-section is an awful experience.”
Why put the spotlight on negatives? Many women with twins or preeclampsia, understand in advance they may have cesareans. Let’s focus on the blessing of birth and baby.
4️⃣ “Sorry you missed out on giving birth.”
Please no more mom shaming. #noshame
5️⃣ “You’re lucky you had a c-section…”
Having a baby is an intense journey for any mom. It’s not lucky or better. A C-section is one way of giving birth, but the outcome is the same. You get your beautiful baby in your arms.
6️⃣ “You’ll never have a regular birth next time.”
Approximately 60 to 80% of women are able to have a vaginal birth after c-section or VBAC.
Each pregnancy and delivery is unique, and we should celebrate moms. Stop the mom shaming and the insensitive comments!

my sister had an emergency c section and everyone was telling her she wasn't a real mom and that she isn't going to be able to connect with her baby. :/

You know what? I had a c-section 4 months ago and I really don't care what others say. I don't even think about it anymore. This is the way it was meant to be for us. Getting back on my feet after the surgery was no joke.

I was bummed myself hearing from my neurologist that I would have to have a c-section due to all my head trauma & my prior surgery. Once I really processed everything in my head I was super thankful for a c-section. I would be able to watch my son grow and take care of him as well as give him all the love. I know my body well due to all my other surgeries so I knew I would be up on my feet in no time, I'm just so thankful I stuck with my c-section because if I wouldn't have I would be up in heaven watching my son get raised by my parents due to his father not wanting him.

I had a csection. Yeah, I was sad I needed one. But, in the end, I still got my kid. And she would've died if I delivered vaginally. So I'm glad I had a c section, and anyone who thinks a c section is easy should get one and see how the recovery is 😝

my mom had an emergency C-section with me i had the cord wrapped around my neck and when my mom would have an contraction she would tighten it around my neck because of how she was handling the contractions
i had my daughter vaginally but i had thought she was going to be a stubborn baby had i would of had a c-section

I had a c-section after going 27 hours in labor with my water broken. I wasn't dilating fast enough and it was starting to become risky for my son. I would've loved to deliver vaginally, but my son's safety was way more important to me than that.

I had an emergency csection due to my son's heart rate dropping during the contractions ... I was only 1 1/2cm dilated and the OB said my LO would not be able to handle labor and pushing .. So I had to have a csection... I don't feel less than a woman and don't care what others think... I'm actually glad I didn't have a vaginal birth ... No tearing or episiotomy which were my biggest fears... Also no long drawn out labor... And I got my beautiful son in the process ...

I labored for 28 hours, water broke, and dilated all the way. i pushed forever with no progress, doc said my pelvis was too small. my baby would have gotten stuck and died if it wasn't for my c section. thanks to c sections i was able to become a mom, so I'm proud of mine!

I had to have an emergency c section after 14 hrs of labor. My sons heart rate kept dropping below 80 every contraction. They had to come in about every 30 min to switch me side to side to get his heart rate back up. They had no idea why it was dropping. They called the doc in and he said I have 2 options.. salt water in my uterus or c-section. I asked him what he thought was best and he said c-section. So they rushed me to the OR. Once they got in they found he was stuck in the birthing canal with his cord around his neck. Doc said he wouldn't have made it if we didn't do the c-section. So to whoever says I'm not a mom because of the way I had to give birth you can kindly f off because I would be the mother of another angel baby if it weren't for that. :-)

I had to have a c-section with my first because of a complete placenta previa that didn't move, and my hospital doesn't offer vbac so I had to have a second c-section..... It makes me so angry when other women/mom's say some of these things to me.... a friend once told me, if someone says something negative to me to ask them "is my child alive and breathing? yes? ok then I got my child here in the safest way possible for me and them. I still gave birth, just because it doesn't fit into your little box of how it should have happened doesn't mean I didnt."

15 years ago I had my first daughter by c section my body had done all the work to prepare for pushing I was fully dialated and effaced, but her head wouldn't come down enough to start pushing, so after 48 hrs of labor I had the c section.. my daughter had a head in the 95th percentile and my pelvis is to narrow, so there was no way I was giving birth vaginally. it's scary to think had this been during times before c sections being used more my daughter and myself would have died in child birth.. c sections are tough, I don't feel any less if a mom. I laid my life on the line with major surgery to bring my baby's into this world. I have had a total of 4 c section to bring my beautiful 4 kiddos into my life.. I wouldn't change a thing..

After 28 hours of my water being broken, not dilating fast enough, my sons heart rate dropping, and the dr realizing my son was pelvis was too small... The dr told me I had to get a c section.. I cried and cried until they took me back to the OR.. The numbing medicine didn't work, so they had to knock me out.. I missed my sons first cry, and couldn't even take care of him for the first night..

Almost 16 years ago I had to have my first csection. I was what the dr thought to b 42 weeks pregnant so over due and eager to give birth to my first child we went in to start inducing labor. I had to b at the hospital at 4 and my dad who lived in Florida at the time was due to fly in at 530 so I wasn't able to go get him from the airport. At 645pm the dr came in to check to c if I had made any progress and found out that my daughter had passed meconium. They told me I would have to have an emergency csection. I was so scared and worried and my dad still hadn't made it to the hospital. They prepped me and was ready to go to the OR within 10 minutes I finally got to c my dad on my way down the hall but I certainly don't remember my daughters first cry or even holding her for the first time but I also know without having that csection there's a greater chance that my daughter nor myself would b here right now.

I had a Csection because I had a HSV outbreak a week before my due date and it was recommended so that the chances of me transferring HSV would be slim to none. But before I Was set on having a vaginal birth because I was told all these horrible things about c sections, having to depend on people to take care of me, not being able to bond properly with my baby , the recovery time is long, the pain afterward , the possibility of not being able to have a vaginal birth after, better yet. The fact that my scar would always remain ugly and my tummy would have a pouch over it and it would never go away.... I'm not into making sure my body is on point but I don't want to be insecure either.. So I told myself never. But at that moment the only thing I thought of was my sons health..and all that other stuff didn't matter anymore to me..and t still doesn't... I traded in my imsecurities and now look at them as a blessing.

I was told your lucky.. I was told I'm not a real mother.. oh C-section isn't that bad coming from someone who never had one.. I had 2 C-sections my 1st my placenta Ruptured completely rupture it felt like a explosion in my tummy and all the blood that gush out of me all over my bathroom floor.. I had no choice he was born at 35 weeks he wasn't even suppose to survive and he did, I'm proud of my scar ..I have 2 baby boys who are my world and I don't care how my babies were delivered

Whether your vagina was ripped apart or your tummy, you are still a mother! People are so insensitive. 😒

When people try and say anything negative about my having a c-section, I just point out that I'm happy my daughter was able to live ... Even though I wasn't able to have a "normal" delevery. That usually shuts them up. People can be rude, and people are way to invested in people they don't even know.

I haven't heard any of those comments yet . But they won't offend me . My sons heart rate kept dropping the entire time I was in labor so I had to have an emergency c section. It was much needed to save my sons life . So nothing anyone says about my situation will hurt me because I have my son here with me . If he had waited up until his actual due date he wouldn't have made it . So thank God for that . 🙏🏽

Vaginal or c-section doesn't matter both has its pains and aches but in the end we're mothers. I don't know why some women feel that c-section means you're a not a mother. These women still have a child they love and care for. I had my child vaginal and my bf had her child by c-section and I say we're both proud mothers. Anyone who says otherwise is just plain ignorant.

I might catch a lot of shade for this but, I had a c section, I was in labor for 2 days but not dilating. They told me I needed a c section and I thought about it, and I wouldn't have been able to push at that time. I was way too tired. It wasn't an emergency so it was nice and easy. I was up and walking around just hours later. So I want to say this, MY c section was easy and I'm glad it happened that way.

My mom had a c-section when she had my brother and then had me vaginally. My mom literally couldn't deliver my brother vaginally because he was too big. He was stuck at her pelvic bone. Him and her would have died, so she had to have an emergency c-section.

I had an emergency c section with my son and lost so much that I couldn't leave my bed to see him in the nicu for a long time. My fiancé had to go and take care of him and me. I got to see my son for the first time in a picture on a cell phone.

freaking yes to all these! I had a c-section and almost died from losing way too much blood. I couldn't breastfeed for the first 12 hours so they gave my son formula and he never latched on to me, I had multiple blood transfusions and nurses constantly poking me with needles and keeping me in bed. I had complications with my incision itself, I couldn't get out of bed in the hospital or at home for 2 weeks, and now I'm 2 months in and still hurt so bad!!

I had a c-section with my last baby 4 mos ago. I never really noticed a difference between vaginal and c- section besides healing a little differently. I never felt any guilt or missing of the vaginal birth. I was just happy to finally see my baby after the ten months of carrying her. 💕

I had a c-section 5 months ago and to be honest it was not too bad. First thing in the morning was the hardest but as long as walked it was not bad considering my 1st 2 were vaginal births no matter what a life was brought into the world.

I had a csection because my daughter's cord was wrapped around her entire body. She came out blue, and they couldn't even tell after the ultrasound because the cord is the same color as the baby. So after 2 days of medication to soften my cervix and two doses of pitocin, I was having contractions and couldn't even feel them and my daughters heart rate dropped so low she would have died if they had kept her in there another hour. Thankfully they gave her oxygen and she was fine, so I'm grateful for my csection💕 it saved my baby girl.

I had to get an emergency cesection cause I stopped dilating... my body literally reacted badly to anesthesia and I almost went into a coma after my first cesarean..I overheard the doctor saying that I was slipping..and it literally woke me up...from wanting to go to sleep...they tell you not to sleep for a reason..it took four hours for me to come to....before I was released they went through the procedures of putting some contraption on my legs that help you get your leg sensitivity back I guess..cause when you come from surgery the meds they give you literally numb you waist down..and you have no feeling in your legs.... it seems forever till you can move again ..... and now I'm on baby number two and was told I'd have to get another cesection ordered again😥terrified yes..cause my first one was soooooooo horrible! Not as easy to cope with knowing you cannot vaginally give birth and healing from cesarean is a very trying journey..your bodies never the same again..nor is your mental state😑

I had a cesarean 3 days ago with my babygirl. I tried normal labor for 21 hrs but babygirl got to 10 cm an decided to turn her head side ways at the last minute an couldn't come pass my pelvic bone because it's narrow. It's been tough work especially trying to get up n down out of bed an chairs an taking care of a newborn but every ounce of pain an every inch of scar I'll have on belly from the cesarean will all be worth every bit of my beautiful babygirl I gave birth too!! 😊 forget what others think mommys we have our beautiful children an no labor is easy! God bless! ♥️

My cesarean was for the safety of my son he was in light distress while I was contracting and was still a one for dilating. I still got to hear his first cries and see his first look at me and his face I would do that all over again in a heartbeat

I had a csection after 24hours of labor. once we got to 8cm we stayed there with no progression and DJ just wouldn't drop. so they told me they thought a Csection was best to get him out without causing any stress or harm to either DJ or myself. so at 1130 am on July 12 2016 I gave birth to my baby boy! ive had people tell me that they shouldve let me labor longer to have him vaginally... scrrw them cause afterwards they let me know that the reason he wouldn't drop is because his cord was wrapped all around his body so it wouldn't allow him to! I'm glad they got my little man out and we were both safe and sound and healthy!
also it wasn't an emergency csection so they made sure they kept everything calm and easy. I will say that I rather enjoyed my experience and I wouldn't trade having my baby for a vaginal birth at all!
