My husband and I are having a little debate.
When our son gets here (due October 6th) we both agree he should sleep in our room for a little bit. However, we are disagreeing in how long he should sleep in there exactly. I am saying about 4 months max (probably less). My husband however thinks he should be in our room for 6 months before he even attempts a night in his room. That just seems WAY too long to me.
So, I wanted to write to all you moms and moms-to-be and see what you all thought. Maybe shed a little light on the subject to sway us one way or the other.
^I agree with @valrocks you have to kinda pick and choose. I sleep in the living room and my son sleeps in his pack n play bassinet or rocket right next to me. I am more comfortable nursing him on the couch so I have been sleeping on the couch. He seems happier in the living room and tends to be really fussy and wakes up a lot more if I put him in his rocker in our room. I intended to immediately have him sleep in his crib but his crib is huge and he doesn't like it yet. He likes being more confined in a small bassinet or rocker/swing right now. I am going to go with the flow and hopefully in a few weeks to a couple of months he will be ready to sleep in his own bedroom. He is almost a month old and wakes up about 3 times a night to eat, sometimes more, so it is easiest to have him close to me for the time being. it'll also depend on if you're breastfeeding or formula feeding and how much milk you're producing if you do breastfeed. I think once I am producing a lot more (hopefully) he won't need to wake up as often to eat so it may depend on that as well.
It's really going depend on you and your baby. The ladies are correct in saying it's hard to decide that now. My son would sleep the full night in our room till he was about 6 weeks. At that point he was only waking 1 time a night. So he would sleep the first part of the night in our room then after the feeding I would put him in his crib in his room. (I used a spare changing pad to lay him on so he would be more confined to not roll over or move around too much. It worked well) then at the 3 month mark he started rolling over and not waking up to feed or if he did he would only take an oz or 2 so I felt like he could have gone without. So that's when we started putting him to sleep in his crib the whole night. Now for the past 2-3 weeks he's been sleeping 10-12 hours. And everyone is rested and happy. You have to read your baby and see what works. Some babies at 3 months are still waking up multiple times a night so it might be easier to just gave them in the room with you.
We have the same due date!!! Don't stress it to much now. You will figure out what makes you both happy when your bundle of joy arrives.
you'll find what works best for you once they're here. One thing I will say, is your views on things are gonna change A LOT once you actually have the baby. There's so many things I said I would never do that I ended up doing anyways lol labor, birth, first night home, sleeping arrangements... none of it went as planned 😝
Most people/doctors/experts/etc suggest for them to sleep in your room until they can turn over by themselves from front to back and back to front. That way if they are in their crib, they won't get stuck face down or anything. It's lessens the chances of SIDS. Most babies are able to flip between 2-5 months. So that's the cue my husband and I are going off for this next one.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

A Statement from Mom.Life:
Hey everyone!
Last night, a new user began messaging our moms asking for private pictures of toddlers and young children. This is obviously unacceptable behavior, and the account was banned immediately. Although thankfully extremely rare on Mom.Life, several users were understandably upset by this, so we wanted to clarify a few things:
First off, Mom.Life has an absolute zero tolerance policy for child abuse and those who would prey on children. We strive to ...
