Is it selfish that I don't plan on telling certain family when I go into labour? I just really don't want to be…

I only told important people Hun everyone else had to wait after all ur bringing the baby into the world for you and ur partner not anyone else so do what makes u happy xx

We have certain family members that won't be aloud round for the first week so not to taint our first week with our little girl. It's moments you'll never get back again so don't feel bad. X

Not selfish in the very slightest!! A laboring woman needs calm more than anything, and needs either to be supported or simply left alone.

@robotunicorn, i didnt tell anyone apart from a couple of close friends and that was only cuz i was contracting when we were at their house so it was pretty hard to hide lol. also told my sister in law in case i needed her support which i ultimately did x

I didn't, I only told my mum and mil, they were coming in room with me as well as my partner x

I just have a feeling even I say no to people being there or visitors until we are ready. Someone will find out and just turn up 😂

@robotunicorn, only my hubby and parents, step dad too, knew i was in labour purely for that reason xx

My partner was very strict when we had our first no one was to be up the hospital except him n my mum n then when we got home he told everyone that under no circumstances was anyone to turn up before we were ready except my mum again cuz she was helping me in shower n stuff xxx

@robotunicorn, I'm the same. I'm hoping to follow hypnobirthing so I want to keep distractions to a minimum where I can. Plus, I don't want Hubby to be distracted by people contacting him rather than being there for me x

@cupcake107, yeah I get they mean well I'm just the type of person who can't deal with it haha. And I agree with that. I worry about my mum doing that in the excitement of things 😳

I think it's pretty common not to want to tell lots of people cause you don't want to be bombarded with messages or people "popping in" when you just want to be left to get on with it. Like everyone else has said, you might tell others if you need something (like we might need someone to feed our cats if we're out for too long) Sometimes I wonder about telling my MIL as I'd worry that she'd tell everyone else before we had chance

@rms18, can't deal with overbearing people haha! I completely agree with the pictures and the announcing it should be for you to do not somebody else. It would annoy me if someone took a picture of my son and posted it all over Facebook without permission

@robotunicorn, exactly! My partners sister is determined she's coming to the hospital when it's all happening.. I don't want her there and made it clear and she's not happy I've also made it clear we want to announce the birth and want no photos online unless it's us.. By the reaction I got from her, she thinks that's stupid🙄🤔 xx

@rms18, Yeah 👍🏻 those first moments are going to be the most special. My sister is the type to just turn up uninvited and I don't want that. Yep I don't want visitors either 😂 I'm not unsociable just can't deal with heaps of people xx

I'm the same, i just want to spend that special first moments alone with baby and my partner, I don't even want everyone coming to the house when we get home.. 😳

@titch.82, Yeah that's what I want just me and my other half. And then obviously tell my mum. My sister has been in my face about it all the time and its put me off having anyone else there. She was trying to force it on me to have her there. Xx

I'm the same. Just want me and the hubby to get on with it. Only thing would be that if it started to take too long I'd need to tell my mam and dad as they would need to get my dog so he's not on his own for too long. But that would be it until baby is born.x
