How much cereal can I add your my 6 week old daughters breast milk?????
it does break down quicker so 6 ounces doesn't sound bad since it's breastmilk. if you burp her between every ounce she should be able to keep it down better, but the cereal really isn't gonna do anything unfortunately
She's on breast milk and I'm supplementing with nutramgen, her peds recommended it, she stated that the breast milk is is thin and breaks down quicker so I will never overfeed her but like I stated she throws up after so many oz @wiccanmommy
@madibug96 her doctor don't seem to think it's too much and she's keeping her 6oz down fine, she was eating 2oz at birth so the increase from then to now is ok
that is a lot of food for a 6 week old. my son drinks 3 ounces every 1-2.5 hours and he's fine. my pediatrician told me I could add rice cereal at 4 months to get him used to "solids" and then when hes good with that I'm allowed to start him on food. the cereal doesn't do anything to fill them up. literally nothing at all.
Are you bf or formula feeding? who recommended it? if you need to I would feed her smaller portions more frequently. and talk to your pediatrician. but thier digestive system isn't designed to get anything but breast milk /formula right now.
she's not getting full off the 6 ozand I was told not to give her more the that because when I did she threw up @wiccanmommy
bf or formula only until 6 months. is there a reason ypu think your baby needs it?
@fabulousmommieof2, when you start to use cereal, ask your doctor if you can use oatmeal instead of rice. and I think you would be able to tell a difference with a newborn that's on cereal and one that isn't on cereal. Since breastmilk breaks down quicker, it would be more filling.
