Any parents out there, who can explain or no how to tell a tatrum from a 2 year old to a child who might have autism with meltdowns and how to handle them.
My son will be evaluated on the 16th.
and just feel like I'm alone going through this..
he is non verbal.
has his good days
and bad days.
but to me that seems like just a kids having a bad day. not just autism.

Our daughter was just evaluated 3 wks ago. She has a language delay & is showing signs of autism. They can't diagnose technically until they are closer to 5. Right now it's hard to tell what is 2yo behavior & what is on the spectrum. However, early intervention is key! We just started ABA therapy this week & will be doing speech soon too. She's been with Early Steps for almost a year, but I feel it's time we get some private therapy for her. If you ever need to talk message me. ((Hugs)) You are not alone! She had a great day yesterday. Today she had a fall out at 9a and it took 45-mins to get her back. It's draining!

most of the time. it's because he has to come inside or when we are out and come back home he freaks out when we pull up.

I've never worked with an autistic child but an adult I have. And just figure out what triggers the meltdowns and try to avoid that. Like the adult I worked with hated crowded areas so we avoided taking him grocery shopping ect. If he is being behavioral figure out what works for him to calm him down. Everyone is different. the adult I worked with (also non verbal) we just redirected him to his room and had him lay down for a little bit to calm himself. I wouldn't self diagnose it though. It's hard to tell if it's autism or just a kid being a kid..but after evaluation if it does come as autism just ask a lot of questions until you feel comfortable with the information.

Try to write down what triggers him when he has a meltdown, but some autistic children don't like to be touched but try holding your baby close to you, and just keep calmly talking to him. Stay strong!
