There is nothing wrong with you sticking to your guns. Our parents and grandparents gave food to us early because that is what they thought was best but now we know that is not the case! In fact the World Health Organization suggests to wait a full 6 months or longer to introduce solids to babies because their digestive systems are immature and not built to handle solids before 6 months. It can cause a lot of stomach issues that can last, so just be careful and don't give into the pressure. Your doctor may suggest giving solids at 4 months because a lot of doctors are still working off the old way of thinking, but think about it. They were in medical school YEARS ago and they do not folloe current health guidelines set forth by the WHO and AAP (World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics), they are set in their old ways. So again, please do this research and I definitely suggest to wait at a minumum of 6 months to introduce solids. In fact, babies don't even need ANY solids until 1 year of age, it is only suggested to start an educational diet at 6 months of age to teach them how to pick up food and put it in their mouths, how to chew and swallow, and how to enjoy different tastes and textures. It also helps you as a parent find out if they have any allergies or intollerances to any kind of food. Please look up Baby Led Weaning, I promise this is the most natural way to introduce solids and probably the healthiest way, too!
My daughters dr recommended waiting until 6 months, I waited until 5 and she still honestly wasn't ready, it really irritated my her stomach. I would personally just wait until the dr give you the go ahead, yours little one isn't going to starve no matter what some people may think.
Yeah it's hard but you know your baby better than anyone else. just remember that. @babybee
@ssdj4, ugh thank you it just annoys me that they think idk what im doing .. but its like ok you dont know how shes going to react to it so dont tell me what to do 😢😫😫😫
I would wait. I know it's hard when everyone says to do it because they did or whatever. my son was almost 8 months before they allowed to eat baby food because he was a preemie. my dad was mad that I was waiting. but every kid is different and you never know if they will be ready just because you were or your friends was or whatever. so wait until her doctor says yes.
My daughters doctor is a recent graduate and she said to start baby cereal at 4 months and I will but that's just me my daughter loves to eat, you are the mom it's your choice
