TMI post! Sorry ladies!!
So I gave birth to my LG on Friday and had to be stitched, I'm dying for a number 2 and midwife told me it's completely fine and stitches will be fine however how am I going to clean myself after without tearing my stitches as I don't exactly know where they are :/
I swear by having lavender oil baths and putting some drops of lavender oil on maternity pads made me heal so much faster! you may smell like an old lady but feels amazing haha @briony1994 xxx
I haven't read all the comments @briony1994 but I had a 3rd degree tear with my 1st & 4th degree this time. If your worried about it hurting ask your GP for some laxatives while you heal. Or make sure your having lots of high fibre/ orange juice etc. I've not had any issue wiping using normal toilet paper. You won't knock or disrupt anything by wiping. It should say in your labour notes what tear you had. If not I'd ask!
Oh and arnica tablet from the health food shop brings down the swelling and bruising
Get a sanitary towel fill it with water and pop it in the freezer when you take it out pop a dry one on top so you don't hurt your sore bits with ice freeze but it's sooo soothing
Used damn toilet paper, cool water aswell, felt quite soothing after! Thanks for the advice girls, honestly don't know what I'd do without this app haha!! @holliesinead @winterbaby95 @lynette26 @jodieiokie @chesscalouise2 @ljay @nic881 xxx
I second salt baths every day Also dab Witch hazel on your stitches helped me feel better so much quicker, going to the toilet is really scary but it's not as bad as you think, put your feet on some something like a small box and don't push just relax let it take as long as it takes don't rush xx
Salt baths all the way I got told not to put salt in my bath by the midwife but my mother an grandmother did so I tried it and honestly believe it helped me heal better and my stitches come out sooner x
@briony1994 Don't use wipes...my midwife told me not to...after I told her that is what I was using in the hospital. I just wet the tissue a little to make it softer...and pour a jug of water over the areas :) Just like the others said...you can feel where they are (stitches) xxx
And use baby wipes to wipe rather than tissue as your more likely to aggregate them with dry tissue xx
Have a feel or look and see where they are. Use a mirror whilst wiping just incase xx
I had a 2nd degree tear and I was so scared just like you, when I eventually went I used the Kandoo wipes 🙈😂 Use a mirror and see where your stitches are thats what I done, just to familiarise myself on where they were 🙈 xx
I didn't get told anything about my tear or my stitches :/ all I got told was she had to make a small snip :/ @winterbaby95 xx
@briony1994 What degree tear did you get? Get a jug of water and pour it over your areas and then pat dry :) I usually washed my butt in the shower after a poo xx
Babe I had stitches and felt like I couldn't go for no. 2 but when I did it was just normal. Nothing will happen to your stitches it just takes a little time for you to feel normal about going toilet. Over a week later it's like my stitches don't even exist! Hope your okay xox
